Call to Order
Ms. Watson called the meeting to order at 8:44 a.m.

Approval of the August 3, 2017, minutes was deferred to the next meeting on September 20, 2017.

Ms. Chambers reviewed the agenda items:
Old Business
2017 CASC Curriculum Retreat
Ms. Chambers reported that the 2017 Curriculum Retreat will be held on September 14 – 15, 2017, at the Berry Hill Resort & Conference Center in Halifax County. Mr. Casey has put out a request for training proposals in order to stimulate discussion about new training ideas. All committee members have been sent an email asking them to RSVP for this event.
2020 Spring Institute Venue Update
Ms. Chambers reported that Mr. Casey has been working diligently to locate a cost-effective venue in Richmond in which to hold the 2020 Spring Institute. He has not met with any success. In view of the inability to find a suitable venue in Richmond, Ms. Chambers reported that the Norfolk Marriott has submitted a very favorable proposal. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed to hold the 2020 Spring Institute in Norfolk.
New Business
Travel Vouchers for New Council Members
Ms. Chambers reported that Council travel vouchers had been emailed with the Council agenda packets in advance of the meeting. Mr. Caldwell encouraged Council members to submit their mileage for Council meetings.
Board & Council Meeting & Events Schedule
Ms. Chambers reported that the Board & Council Meeting & Events Schedule had been emailed with the Council agenda packets in advance of the meeting. She will fill in the dates for Justice & Professionalism Committee meetings as they become available.
2020 Executive Program Venue
Ms. Chambers reported that it is time to select a venue for the 2020 Executive Program. Both she and Mr. Caldwell suggested that it is time to go back to Roanoke. The program will be held in Charlottesville in 2017, Williamsburg in 2018 and Staunton in 2019. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed to schedule the 2020 Executive Program in Roanoke.
Change to Board & Council Membership
Mr. Caldwell proposed switching the Board & Council members in the 9th District. Discussion ensued. Mr. Rehak resigned his position on Council and Mr. Slemp was unanimously elected as the 9th District Representative on Council.
