Call to Order
Ms. Parr called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m.

Minutes
The draft minutes from the June 10, 2015, meeting were previously posted and circulated to Council.  The minutes were approved as submitted.

Chairman’s Report
None.

Administrator’s Report
Ms. Chambers reported that CASC has contracted with Nancy Oglesby to produce a manual to assist with the evidence-based prosecution of domestic violence cases.    Ms. Chambers announced that she has been working on improving the Weekly Update that everyone receives from CASC on Friday afternoons.  She hopes the improvements will be implemented within a month.  Finally, Ms. Chambers reported that she attended the 2015 NAPC summer meeting and she briefly summarized the main topics of discussion.

 

 

Old Business

Annual Summer Conference & Vendor Update
Ms. Weist reviewed the Annual Summer Conference agenda.  She announced that there are 7 vendors attending this year.  They will be given an opportunity to give presentations on Friday evening after the end of the training day.

CASC Curriculum Committee Update
Ms. Chambers announced that the 2015 Curriculum Retreat will be held at Montpelier from September 10 – 11.  She reminded members to send training ideas to CASC.

CASC Finance Committee Update
Mr. Wright reported that the CASC Finance Committee met earlier in the day to discuss CATF funding priorities and a plan for going forward.   He reported that Ms. Chambers has prepared a suggested budget, the highlight of which is the complete funding of the 2017 Spring Institute.  The proposed budget was based on requesting the maximum appropriation allowable.  The Finance Committee will have an appropriation proposal ready to submit prior to the next Council meeting.

New Business

Capitol Impact
Ms. Chambers reported that CASC has purchased and started to use new event registration and office management software developed by Capitol Impact.   So far it is proving to be a wonderful system that will make the business of CASC easier to manage.

CASC Standing Committee on Prosecutorial Ethics
Ms. Parr announced that according to the CASC Constitution & By-laws, members must be appointed to the CASC Standing Committee on Prosecutorial Ethics for 3-year terms.  She pointed out that the Chairperson of that committee must be on Council.   Mr. Stolle moved to nominate Ms. Taylor to be the chairman.  The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.  Mr. Olsen moved that the remaining current members be re-appointed (Mr. Doucette, Mr. Cox, Mr. Wright and Ms. Stamos.)  The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Introductions
Mr. Olsen introduced John Mahoney who is running unopposed for Commonwealth’s Attorney in Caroline County.

Adjournment
There being no further business before Council, the meeting adjourned at 3:17 p.m.  The next regularly scheduled meeting is August 9, 2015, 8:30 .m. at the Virginia Beach Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel.
